Privacy Policy

Overview

DevPane is designed with privacy as a core principle. Most tools on this site run entirely in your browser, meaning your data never leaves your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit user-generated content from these tools. This policy explains the few exceptions, our use of analytics, and how third-party advertising partners may collect data.

Client-Side Tools (No Data Collection)

The following tools process all data locally in your browser and do not send any information to our servers:

• Epoch Converter — All timestamp conversions happen in your browser.
• Cron Builder — Cron expressions are generated client-side.
• JSON Formatter — JSON data is formatted and validated locally. Your JSON never leaves your browser.
• JWT Decoder — JWTs are decoded entirely in your browser. We never see or store your tokens. Security analysis is performed client-side.
• Subnet Calculator — All IP address calculations happen locally.

Important: For JWT and JSON tools in particular, this means sensitive tokens, API keys, or proprietary data entered into these tools remain completely private and are never transmitted to any server.

Domain Checker (Limited Server-Side Processing)

The Domain Checker tool performs DNS lookups, SSL certificate checks, and security header analysis. Due to browser security restrictions (CORS), these requests are proxied through our serverless functions hosted on Vercel.

What we collect: We do not log, store, or retain the domain names you look up. Domain queries pass through our infrastructure but are not persisted. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp, request path) may be retained for up to 7 days for operational purposes (error monitoring, abuse prevention) and are then automatically deleted.

Analytics

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how visitors use DevPane.

What Plausible collects:

• Page views and referrer sources (which site sent you here)
• Device type (mobile vs. desktop) and browser (approximate, not fingerprinted)
• Country-level location (derived from IP address, but IP is not stored)

What Plausible does NOT collect:

• No cookies, no persistent identifiers, no cross-site tracking
• No personal information (email, name, etc.)
• No IP addresses stored (used only for country detection, then discarded)

Plausible is GDPR, CCPA, and PECR compliant. You can read their privacy policy at plausible.io/privacy.

Advertising and Third-Party Services

DevPane is supported by ethical advertising to keep the tools free. We work with advertising partners who may use cookies or similar technologies to serve relevant ads.

Current ad partners:

• Carbon Ads — A developer-focused ad network that serves contextual ads with minimal tracking. Read their privacy policy at carbonads.net/privacy.
• Google AdSense (if applicable) — May use cookies for personalized advertising. Read Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of personalized ads at google.com/settings/ads.

We do not control the data collection practices of these third parties. Please review their privacy policies for details.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store personal data from most tools, there is no account to delete or data to request. For Domain Checker queries, temporary server logs are automatically deleted after 7 days.

If you have concerns about analytics or advertising tracking, you can use browser extensions like uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger to block third-party scripts. DevPane will continue to function normally.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Significant changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new effective date.
